Maybe SSOTC's most eerie tune, along with Clouds. It contains a spoken part, and many tempo changes . We invited Reno to sing on the chorus, because we thought his growls would fit just well. And they do.
The song is about how compassion can sometimes become a way of feeding on people's misery. This is no true compassion, in case you wondered. Only self-indulgence.
lyrics
Last night I was at a friend's house
Telling the guests there I liked black metal
And books of wonders and shamanism, alcohol
And tender stuff like that
I said this in whole good faith
With no other desire than
To seduce, enlighten their eyes with ancient lights
But not to cheat them, not to cheat them
Ye ! Ye shall breed !
Ye shall party !
Ye shall fill the Earth !
They looked at each other, so caring
One a banker, one an engineer, one a housewife
Their eyes were dulled by ancient lies
Their clothes numbed by countless soaps
They looked at me then, so very caring
Composing sad smiles on wax faces
The housewife came closer to me and
"We will pray for you", she said, pray for you !
Ye ! Ye shall breed !
Ye shall party !
Ye shall fill the Earth !
Holy race of Abel, gnawing on bones
