Rebecca's Evil Eye

from Swan Songs Of The Coyote by June DeVille

about

This one is about a stupid gal who thought it smart not to show up at a date with one of us. Stupid, stupid. You don't know what you missed. But it's ok now.

We love this song, because it's quite wild and resentful. It might sound a bit complex, but it's not the hardest one to play. At first, we planned to invite an eagle to feature on it - but due to certain courtesy rules with friends of ours, we had to fall back on a seagull.

It contains some funky and jazzy parts.

As I was lying still on the floor
My muddy head still clanging with lost wars
Slowly I recalled who I was not
What dreary call had led me through these doors
She was a punk of the worst typeless type
Eager to please, even more to despise
What I did to her I couldn't really say
Wish I could go back to her and say "Hey!"

Hey
What makes you think that
Days and nights
Are not just as thick
And just as bright
Just as bright !

As I was moaning lame on the floor
My muddy head still aching with cold wars
Slowly I recalled who I was not
And what dreary call had led me through these doors
She was a dork of the hottest kindless kind
Eager to fight, and even more to divide
What I did to her I couldn't really say
Wish I could go back to her and say "Hey!"

Hey !
I'm bleeding and hating and
I'm shrinking and swelling and yelling
I will never, ever, give up living
Nor shut my mouth, get me a drink !
