This one is quite tragic. We won't get any darker or more sentimental than this in the future. Slow pace, no drums, heart-breaking vocals. Even the story behind it is unbelievably sad. That's the first song on this album that addresses Love in a respectful way. Since it is a lot to ask from boys like us, we will not get too deep into it here.
Again, we found the additonal vocals on the last chorus right during the record session. The harmony is quite basic, but it works well in our opinion.
We'll still have to manage playing this song on stage - which won't be easy, since no drums means no protection, and we're rather shy.
lyrics
Sleep, old friend, come bring me peace
The night's been long, and the air is now cold
Oh I could have smashed your heart
I could have ripped your skin
I was a king, and you were a tart
I could have smashed your heart
I see you again and again
As you stared me down with those eyes
Oh I could have smashed your heart
I could have ripped your skin
I was a king, and you were a tart
I could have smashed your heart
Far away you fled with those eyes
And I, so proud, they think I don't care
Oh I could have smashed your heart
I could have ripped your skin
I was a king, and you were a tart
I could have smashed your heart
